About Dance Connection

Our brand new facility celebrated its grand opening in December of 2011. Our classrooms offer the latest technology for our students. Our studios are equipped with professional audio systems, stage and party lighting, large TVs, and safe sprung floors – the same floors used on So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars. These suspended floors create an even point elasticity over the entire floor when landing which absorbs energy and releases a small portion back to the dancer. This prevents serious injury that can result from dancing over concrete floors. Our comfortable and spacious lobby provides many places to sit and relax, clean handicap accessible restrooms, a 40” television, a dancewear boutique, and complimentary coffee and tea for parents.

Why are you a member of the Islip Chamber of Commerce?
We are members of the Islip Chamber of Commerce because we believe in the importance and influence of small business. The Islip Chamber allows us to network with our local business community.

What are your business’s core values, goals, and overall mission?

Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing fun and technically sound dance training in a caring, safe, and professional environment as well as offer first-class customer service and support. Our goal is to “re-invent” the dance studio experience through our state-of-the-art facilities, specialized programs, qualified and caring teachers, dedicated office and management team, and top-notch recital productions. At the same time, we are dedicated to giving back through local community performances, holiday toy drives & donations, and using the power of our art form to make a difference in our neighborhood.

What makes your business stand out?

Dance Connection was founded in 1989 as a one-room dance and martial arts studio on Sunrise Highway in East Islip, with just 75 students, a director, and two part-time teachers. Over the past 28, with the support of the Islip community, Dance Connection has grown into a 5,000+ sqft. state-of-the-art performing arts facility home to over 650 dancers, traveling to us from all over Long Island – from Patchogue to Queens, taking over 100 different classes and programs each and every week.

What products or services do you offer companies or individuals?
Dance Connection offers dance classes for all ages and abilities in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Dance Enrichment. We also have our own specialized “little dancer” programs starting at age 20 months and are a licensed Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?
With an award winning Competition Team, comprehensive Teacher Training Program, in-house National Honor Society for Dance Arts chapter, faculty & staff sitting on national expert panels and teaching at national conventions, and alumni on Broadway, in modeling careers, and working as thriving dancers, dance teachers, education professionals, and business owners, there is much to be proud of. However, providing a second home to each of our students every day to come, express themselves, train and practice their art in a safe and family-driven environment is easily the best accomplishment for us to be honored by.
