The third annual ALS Run happened over the weekend. People from all over the community came to support the cause. Ilya Wilson, a former Islip athlete who now competes for Suffolk Community College, won the event running a 4:46 mile. Several sports teams, such as the track and volleyball team, teachers, and students came to participate. Volunteers from the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society helped ensure that the event ran smoothly. Games and activities were set up for the younger children and many teachers volunteered to participate in the dunk tank. Mr. Mosca, Mr. Claps, Mr. Holdsworth, and others volunteered to get soaked for the cause. Also, the raffles were a success; participants won Broadway tickets, State Park Summer passes, and other fun prizes. Most importantly, the whole event was very successful which means that there will be plenty of money going to the cause of curing ALS.
